You describe the problem
Tell me on the phone what the boiler is doing, what fault code is showing (if any), whether you've lost heating, hot water, or both. That helps me come prepared with the most likely parts and avoids a wasted visit.
Gas boiler repair Tiverton
A boiler that won't fire, keeps locking out, makes a noise it didn't used to make, or stops producing hot water can mean several different things, and the fault isn't always what it looks like from the outside. I diagnose what's actually wrong before I touch any parts. That way you're paying for a repair, not a guess.
I cover Tiverton, EX16 and the surrounding Mid Devon area including Bampton, Cullompton, Bickleigh, Sampford Peverell, Willand and Halberton.
Happy to confirm Gas Safe registration and insurance details when we arrange your visit.
How I approach repairs
I find the fault before I talk to you about parts. Plenty of boiler trouble traces back to a control, a sensor, the pump, the pressure or something else further down the system rather than the bit most people point at first. I follow it to the real cause, so you're not handing over money for a part that was never the problem.
I carry out boiler repairs for homeowners and landlords across Tiverton and Mid Devon. I work on Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Baxi, Ideal, Glow-worm, Viessmann boilers.

When I arrive, I work through the system methodically. I don't swap components on the hope that's what's wrong — I test before I replace. With 25+ years on this type of work, most common faults are something I've seen before.
Once I've identified the fault, I explain what needs fixing, what it's likely to cost, and whether the repair is good value given the age and condition of the boiler. If it's an old boiler and the repair cost gets close to what a replacement would cost, I'll say so. I'd rather you had the full picture than commit to a repair that won't buy you much time.
If you want to go ahead, I carry out the repair and test the system before I leave. Supplied parts carry a one-year guarantee.
Common faults
The boiler fires but won't light, or won't attempt to light.
Pressing reset clears the display but the fault comes back.
Common on combination boilers with diverter valve faults.
System losing pressure and needing constant topping up.
Water dripping inside or outside the boiler.
Heating slow to respond, some radiators not getting hot.
Common on combination boilers — heating works but hot water doesn't, or vice versa.
Controls not responding, zones not heating correctly.
Banging, kettling or gurgling from the boiler or pipework.
Boiler unresponsive or showing multiple fault codes.
Questions
Sometimes, though fault codes vary between manufacturers and can point to more than one underlying cause. Tell me the make, model and the code and I'll give you my best assessment. It might be something you can resolve yourself (low pressure is often a case of topping up the system) or it might need an engineer.
I carry a range of common parts for the boiler makes I work on. Whether I can complete the repair on the first visit depends on what the fault turns out to be. Less common parts usually arrive within one to two working days.
I'll be straight with you. If the boiler is old and the part that's failed is expensive, or if there are multiple faults, I'll lay out the options as I see them. I don't do installations, so I've no financial reason to push you towards a replacement.
My standard working hours are Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm. I don't currently offer a 24/7 emergency service — if you have a gas leak or a carbon monoxide alarm, call the National Gas Emergency line on 0800 111 999 immediately.
Parts I supply carry a one-year guarantee. Labour warranties depend on the nature of the repair — I'll confirm what's covered when the job is done.
It depends where the water is coming from. A small drip from a pressure relief valve discharge pipe usually means the system pressure is too high and needs attention fairly soon. Water dripping inside the boiler casing is worth getting looked at promptly. Neither is typically an emergency unless water is near electrics or coming in volume — in which case turn the boiler off at the switch and call me.
